Abstract

The present investigation deals with the problem of estimating the population variance in two-phase sampling. Some modified chain type estimators have been proposed which make use coefficient of skewness, coefficient of kurtosis, and coefficient of variation of second auxiliary variables. Further generalizations have been made and properties are discussed. The proposed estimators have been compared with two-phase variance estimator and some other chain-type estimators. The performances of the proposed estimators have been supported with a numerical illustration.
