Towards an Analytical Approach for Sustainable Smart City Services Management: Waste Management as a Case Study
Main Article Content
Abstract
The application of innovative Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Smart City outlines emerging possibilities for optimizing existing services and developing new services based on key concepts such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, information sharing, and smart applications. These ICT-based services have the potential to: change the demand for physical assets and infrastructure; take part in requalification procedures; and have an impact on the built environment's sustainability and metropolitan regions' economic worth. Including these, this paper deals with the key factors towards smart city sustainability by identifying, analyzing and linking Smart Cities (SC) domains and sub-domains, related smart services and the various levels of enabling ICT technologies involved with SC solutions at the urban scale and virtuous cases of cities that have implemented smart solutions, allows to collect, allocate and process information, in a unified way and finally implemented in the field of smart waste management as a case study.
